What Tie Are You Holding On To?

I only own two suits, however I have several ties.  Some are like me - conservative, but several are
very colorful.  The bright ones are from my Bride.  I was thinking about the ties in my closet this morning as I was getting dressed.  Those ties led me to think about the ties I have with my family, friends and former coworkers.

As I posted on Facebook, this mornings prayer from Dale Gentry, I began to think of the "ties" I have with the people whom I am "fb" friends with.  I am tied to some through birth, youth, school, marriage, work, and church.  Several I don't really know, though we have shared a similar service or calling (my Law Enforcement career).  Several "friends" are maintained because of our like mindedness.  I am glad to say that I am friends with people whom have completely different views, beliefs and values than myself - but we still call each other Friend.

Of all of the "ties" I share with those called friends, One is set apart from the rest.   Yes, the others are important but not preeminent.  This One tie is so strong and lasting it is eternal.  This One tie allows us to share life everlasting (for better or worse as some are thinking).  This particular tie is worth more than all the other ties put together.  In the big-picture of things, it is the only One worth holding onto.

Blest Be the Tie That Binds | John Fawcett

Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

Before our Father’s throne,
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
Our comforts, and our cares.

We share our mutual woes,
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.

When we asunder part,
It gives us inward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart,
And hope to meet again!

(Proverbs 6:21 KJV)  Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

This Proverb is talking about a Wisdom which only comes from The Lord.  You find this wisdom by finding Him!

(Isaiah 55:6-7 NLT)  Seek the LORD while you can find Him. Call on Him now while He is near.  Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong.  Let them turn to the LORD that He may have mercy on them.  Yes, turn to our God, for He will forgive generously.

Blessings
