Steve Johnson Blames God for Dropped Football?

Did God make Steve Johnson, #13 of the Buffalo Bills, drop the winning touchdown pass on Sunday?  Was it mere chance?  Could God have made him drop the pass?  If He did, why?  More importantly, does God even care about the game of football?  The answers might surprise you!  Lets take them one at a time.

Sunday after missing the game winning TD pass in OT, Johnson tweeted; "I PRAISE YOU 24/7!!!!!!" AND THIS HOW YOU DO ME!!!!! YOU EXPECT ME TO LEARN FROM THIS??? HOW???!!! ILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! EVER!!! THX THO..."  Mr Johnson has bad theology if he believes that just because he Praises God all will be well.  The people of God are promised Trials, Tribulations, Persecutions and Eternal Life.  For the third part of his tweet; Yes, God does expect you to learn from this and about never forgetting this - If this is the worst thing in your life, you should be THANKFUL!  Now for the second part which I had skipped.  Does God have my (or Steve's) best intentions in mind or does he have His best intentions for me (and Steve) in mind?  I do believe that God was involved in the missed pass.  Psalms 37:23 NLT  The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

As for "chance", there is no such thing!  Ask any Physicist, Mathamatician or Theologian.

Now the biggie:  God does care about Football, because people are involved and God cares about people.  Does God care who wins or loses?  Yes, I believe He does - not for the reasons we do though.  Everything that happens is part of God's Sovereign Will.  Ephesians 1:11 NLT  Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according to His plan.

Foundation of The Original Thanksgiving - Do you know?

The original thanksgiving was held in Massachusetts by the Pilgrim settlers during their second winter in America in December, 1621. The first winter had killed about one third of the original 102 colonists. At one point their daily food ration was a hand-full down of corn kernels apiece.  A trading vessel showed up unexpectedly, swapping them beaver pelts for corn.  This brought hope to the next crop season and Governor William Bradford decreed that December 13, 1621, be set aside as a day of feasting and prayer to show the gratitude of the colonists that they were still alive.

The Pilgrims, whom had sought religious freedom and an opportunity in America, gave thanks to God for His provision (Jehovah Jireh-The Lord Will Provide) for helping them find cleared land for planting their crops, for the fact that there were no hostile Indians in that area, for their religious freedom, and for God’s provision of an interpreter to the Indians.  Along with the feasting and games, the Pilgrims and 80 friendly Indians (who added to the feast by bringing wild turkeys and venison), gave prayers, sermons, and songs of praise during the celebration. They spent three days feasting and praying.

From that time on Thanksgiving has been celebrated as a day to give thanks to God for His gracious and sufficient provision. President Abraham Lincoln officially set aside the last Thursday of November, in 1863, “as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father.” In 1941, Congress ruled that after 1941, the fourth Thursday of November be observed as Thanksgiving Day and be a legal holiday.

I hope you knew this and continue to celebrate in the same fashion as it was intended.  Happy Thanksgiving to my Family, Church Family, Law Enforcement Family and Friends.

Help Economy by Increasing Unemployment - What???

About three days ago on Fox news I heard an analyst indicate that since Obama took office two years ago, federal jobs have not only increased dramatically but earners making 150K or more doubled!  DOUBLED, are you kidding me!  State and federal workers earn there respective salaries though TAXES.  I am all for people making money, that is what capitalism is all about HOWEVER, you can not tax a nation into prosperity - even though Obama is trying.

My solution is simple; eliminate the jobs he added (even if we have to pay unemployment, we will be better off).  Stop these so called "Free Trade Trips", you know, the one he is on now with 3100 people, costing us (tax payers) 200 million dollars a day!  Free trade apparently is costing us a fortune.

Most importantly "FIRE" the president, we can not afford him - Its a start...

1934 = 2010?

This is a 1934 Chicago Tribune political cartoon that many say rings true in today's political and economic climate. What do you think?
