More Humor from my Dad

My Daughter has decided to move out

Last night, my daughter just walked into the living room and said,

"Dad, cancel my allowance immediately. Throw out all my clothes, take away my TV, my stereo, my iPhone, and my iPod. Please take all of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or give it to Goodwill. Then sell my car, my horse, and laptop. Take my front door key away from me, throw me out of the house and rent my room out. You must disown me and never talk to me again. And don't forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to my sisters."

-----------------------

 Well, she didn't put it quite like that.

She actually said;

 “Dad, I have decidedvto work for Obama's re-election campaign”.

I Want to Publicly Say; "Thank You!"

As many of you know or have figured out, our youngest daughter Corina has left for South Africa to attend a Missions College and work in the mission field with a man God has placed into our lives that is willing to take my "Beena" (my nickname for her) into his home and continue to be a Father to her.  His name is Pastor Greg Matthei minister of Athlone Baptist Church in South Africa.

Many people have praised Carey and I for how Corina is turning out - WE HAD HELP!  First and foremost I thank the Holy Spirit for the work He has done and is doing in Beena's life.  Next, Corina has had three mentors, each a strong woman of faith in Christ; Sarah Gowder, Jamie Timmins and Katie Blocker.  Corina has had two Christian counselors; Linda Silva and Emily Shoaf.  On Wednesday's nights her bible teacher and missions advocate was Chris Timmins.

Last and foremost, Corina's Youth Pastor, Scotty Jarrard.  Scotty has a very special place in Corina's life.  He was with us from the beginning.  Scotty took the day off to be with Corina and protect her during the custody battle and appropriately Scotty was with us at the airport (two hours away from where we all live) last night as she left for South Africa.  Not only did he come to the airport but brought a van load of Corina's friends.  Today Scotty reminded me that several years ago I told him that Jesus picked Twelve and out of them He had a special group of Three, and out of them He One, "the one whom Jesus loved" (the Apostle John).  When I mentioned this in a training class for the Church Teachers, I remember Scotty blurting out; " I know who my "one" is - it's Josh" (my oldest son).  Today Scotty Reminded me of that day and then told me Carey and I had produced another "one" (another "John"), only this time it is a she, it's Corina!

While most 18 year olds are trying to "find themselves" or get their lives "together" my 18 year old is answering God's call, not out of bravery but obedience.  If you want your how ever old to answer God's call - get them to start listening first and that starts with you and some help of course.

This is to good to pass up Again!

Following is an excerpt reprint from Yahoo! Sports and the Shutdown Corner Blog;

"Tebow Time: The three 3:16 references, boffo TV ratings and Lady Gaga love

The NFL bans eye-black messagers. Tebow's numbers did the preaching on Sunday. (Lynn Sladky/AP)

You ever feel like there's too much Tim Tebow news? Neither do I. Here's a roundup of some of the most interesting Timbits from the aftermath of the Denver Broncos 29-23 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

• The fact that Tebow had 316 yards passing and averaged 31.6 yards per pass in the game didn't escape notice on Sunday night. Tebow wore "John 3:16" on his eye black in the 2009 BCS Championship game and has since become identified with the famous Bible message. The coincidental stats caused millions of fans to perform Google searches on the Bible passage in the past 24 hours. Here's one more unbelievable stat: John Ourand of Sports Business Journal reports that the final quarter-hour television rating for the Broncos-Steelers game was, you guessed it, 31.6.
(John 3:16 reads: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.")

• Will Brinson of CBSSports.com has some more fun with Tebow numbers.

• Tebow earned $250,000 for the victory based on an incentive written into his contract. Since he took 70 percent of the team's snaps this season, he is entitled to a quarter-million dollars for every Broncos playoff victory.
[Related: Broncos given no choice but to embrace Tim Tebow]

• Twitter announced that 9,420 tweets per second were sent immediately after Tebow's overtime TD pass. That set a new sports record for the social media site.

I have said it before, God does care about Football, just not the way we usually do.  If fact, He cares about anything that involves people because God gave His Only Son's (Jesus) Life as a ransom for our (all people) sins.  Whats the catch?  You have to receive this free gift by admitting you are a sinner and put your faith and trust in Him!

Corina's December News Letter

My African Adventure..
The time has come. This move is still unreal to me, but as the "goodbyes" begin and all the "lasts" start, I'm feeling the gravity of my decision. I'm excited. I'm overwhelmed with joy of what God has in store in South Africa. I have a peace that surpasses all knowledge, but I also know a hole in my heart is starting to form. This hole is your absence. This hole is my family, my friends, my supporters, my co-workers, my fellow students, my home, and my small town. God is the Lord of my heart though. I know He will fill my heart with His love and soon enough I will have a new family, new friends, new supporters and new fellow students who will love me the way you all have loved me. I want to sincerely thank you for loving and caring for me in all the ways that you have. You have forever impacted my life for the good.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

This month has been full of traveling, preparing, packing, cleaning, and lots of laughing. I have new eyes that are telling me to soak in every moment that I have left. I've spent lots of time with family and friends, worked my 2 weeks at McDonalds, spent Christmas time with lots of family members, visisted family in Florida, and went on my last youth group trip! This month has been busy but very fulfilling.

I am officially the president of my own non-profit organization, "The African Adventure" which will enable people to give tax deductable donations or monthly amounts. God has truly opened heaven and poured out His blessings on me. I'm amazed by Him and the people who have been obedient to what He has asked them to give or do. I'm still in need of month supporters who will commit to me though. It's as simple as praying for me and giving 25 dollars monthly, which will fund my schooling, basic necessities, and ministry. I'm just asking you to pray about it and either way God will provide in His own way. You can respond to this e-mail if you are interested in sponsoring me or have any questions about it!

Upcoming dates to remember:
January 1: Radio Interview on 107.7 FM! @ 5:30 p.m.
January 8: Going away party @ HGBC, 2-4 p.m.
January 10: Pancake dinner fundraiser @ McDonalds! 4-7p.m. and tickets are 3 dollars for unlimited pancakes!

If you have any questions, comments, or would like more information feel free to reply to this e-mail. I would love to talk to you!
